Yoga Class Descriptions
Twisters Yoga offers over 60 yoga classes a week in a variety of styles, including: Gentle Kripalu, Classic Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Power Vinyasa and Anusara. These styles represent different approaches to yoga with varying levels of technical difficulty / strenuousness. Our eclectic continuum of yoga classes allows us to continuously challenge our students to deepen their practice and keep their experience fresh from day to day and year to year.
Twisters offers a monthly series called Yoga 101 for brand new beginners. Click here for more information.
Otherwise, we recommend novice students start with a Level I Gentle Kripalu or Level I/II Classic Hatha Class. These stationary sequence classes are slower paced, allowing students the time to learn poses, proper alignment and breathing techniques in an unhurried environment. As students progress, they can join our Level I/II Vinyasa Flow classes which move at a faster pace and integrate more challenging poses. For advanced students, who want a demanding physical practice, our Level II/III Ashtanga or Vinyasa Flow classes are appropriate.
Hatha Stationary Classes
Hatha Yoga is the most popular branch of Yoga and from which many Styles of Yoga originate, including Kripalu, Power Yoga, Bikram Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga and Kundalini Yoga. Hatha incorporates together physical poses (Asana), breathing techniques (Pranayama), and meditation to bring health to the body and quiet or peacefulness to the mind.

- Classic Hatha: Level I/II

Vinyasa Flow Classes
Vinyasa style yoga combines a series of flowing postures with rhythmic breathing for an intense body-mind workout. Vinyasa, which means breathing and movement, is for internal cleansing. Each movement is accompanied by one breath. The most important product of Vinyasa is sweat. Performing the Asanas creates heat and brings the toxins outside the body through sweat. Through this form of cleansing, purification occurs.
- Vinyasa Flow: Level I/II
- Vinyasa Flow: Level II/III
- Power Vinyasa: Level II/III
Anusara Classes
Anusara Yoga is a school of hatha yoga founded by John Friend in 1997. Anusara literally means "to flow with Grace", "to align with Nature" or "to follow one's heart." Due to its elegant set of alignment principles, life-affirming Tantric philosophy, and heart oriented community, Anusara Yoga has become one of the most highly respected and fastest growing yoga systems in the world today. It is known for its cutting edge therapeutics, precise alignment as well as its emphasis on cultivating the virtues of the heart and looking for the goodness in all people and all things. Anusara Yoga is not only a great physical workout, but profound, strengthening, healing and fun.

Hot Classes
Hot Yoga is a moving meditation combining asana, breath work and heat. A series of 26 Hatha Yoga postures is performed sequentially to exercise 100% of the body from the inside out, regulating the body systems to function more effectively and often having healing effects such as reduced chronic illness symptoms and generally enhanced well being. The room is heated up to 110 degrees to allow for improved circulation and cardiovascular health as well as deep muscle stretching and elimination of toxins. This class is designed for practitioners of all ages; beginners are welcome. Men and women both love this intense cardio workout which develops strength, flexibility and balance.
